Dock 7 is a small salvage station. You're a freelance shipbreaker who lives here with one cat. Pick a wreck from the board, take your Salvage Ship out, and come home with whatever's worth keeping. There's no rush at all. You have plenty of air, no debt to pay off, and a Work Pod that can't blow up.

One layer at a time

Drift over the wreck in your little Work Pod and draw with the Laser. Wherever it touches, the hull melts open, and a plate you've cut all the way around pops loose and floats away. Under the hull plating there's wiring and machinery, and under that, the rooms someone used to live in. The Laser only cuts the layer you're pointing at, so draw as freely as you like without worrying about burning what's underneath.

You can see what you've found

Pull drifting plates and parts in with the Tractor Beam and tuck them into the Tow Net behind your Work Pod. The net swells with everything you put in it, and when you come up beside the Salvage Ship, it all streams across and piles up in the see-through Storage. You know how the day went by the shape of the pile, not by a number.

What's still inside this one?

Hold up the Scanner and you can see through the hull. Valuable parts are nice, but the real finds are the little things the last owner left behind. An Old Mug, a Half-Knit Scarf, a Ship in a Bottle. The first time you find a Keepsake, you don't sell it. It goes on your display shelf. The potted plant grows a little at a time until it blooms, and finding a Portable Radio puts up a radio antenna on the dock.

Every wreck has a story

Each contract builds a new wreck, and what it's been through is still there. A scorched hull, an old name painted over, a table still set for two, a smiley face someone drew on a copper plate. Nobody tells you what happened. You just start to guess, one layer at a time.

Evenings at the dock

When you get back, you're paid for what you brought in, and evening comes. If there's a new Keepsake on the shelf, the cat wanders over for a look. Leave the radio on, drop by the family's rooms, pet the cat for a while, and call it a day. Then it's morning again.

The family grows

Now and then a Distress Signal comes in. Bring back the Rescue Capsule left in a wreck, and the dock gains one more member of the family. One opens the Workshop, one takes the Lab, one introduces songs on the radio. Each has a room of their own, and once you're close, you get a Tape with their song on it.

Dock 7 is home

Use what you earn to tune up your Work Pod, and build new Tools and Modules in the Workshop. The materials you haul back go into construction at the dock. Choose the walls, lanterns, and String Lights for each room, and move your Keepsakes to whichever windowsill you like. None of it raises a single stat. It's just how the place slowly becomes home.

What kind of game is this?

- Shipbreaking with a laser, one layer at a time
- No timers, no debt, no game over
- A new wreck for every contract, each with a story
- Keepsakes to display, a Codex, rooms to make your own
- Lo-fi radio and Tapes to collect
- Photo mode, anywhere
- A horn you can honk for no reason
- A cat

Please name the cat

A cat has lived at Dock 7 from the start. The cat doesn't do anything. The name is up to you. Add the game to your wishlist, and take your time thinking it over.

Studio
NangmanGames is a one-person studio in South Korea. For years I was the classic “ideas guy”, all daydreams and nothing finished. These days I’m pulling those daydreams out one at a time and actually putting them together.
Dock 7 is where they’ve ended up: a station circling the moon, ships nobody came back for, a radio left on at night, and the things people left behind.
Nangman (낭만) is a Korean word for a warm, slightly wistful kind of romance.
